Yingwodong Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Central-westernmost Hubei. The Yingwodong Fm was named by Li Quan, Leng Jian et al in 1987. The naming section is along the Yingwodong River, Xujiazhuang, southwest of Songluo in Shennongjia Forest District, Hubei Province. Lowest formation (1 of 11 in Lexicon) of Shennongjia Gr.

Synonym: (鹰窝洞组)
Lithology and Thickness
Lower part of the formation is purple-red yellowish-red muddy and siliceous-banded micritic to fine-crystalline dolomite, grey laminated fine-crystalline dolomite, stromatolite-bearing micritic to fine-crystalline dolomite, oolitic dolomite and clastic micritic dolomite. Upper part is dominated by grey-purple-red massive, fine-crystalline, micritic dolomite, intercalated with stromatolite dolomite with dolomitic siltstone and nodular dolomite, in which oblique bedding, ripple remarks and intraclasts bird's-eye structures are often seen. The formation is over 1900 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
In Shennongjia district the bottom of the formation is not seen; however, in north periphery of Huangling fault rise at Shanshuya-Xichahe, and Xiongjiapo-Kongzihe, it is in unconformable contact with the underlying Shuiyuesi Group of Paleoproterozoic (Li Fuxi et al., 1989).
Upper contact
The top is conformably overlain by the Dayanping Fm.
Regional extent
Central-westernmost Hubei. The formation in exposed mainly around Songluo, Motianling and Dayanping, Shennongjia Forest District.

Fossils
Stromatolites recognized in it are Omachtenia f., Baicalia f., Tungussia f., and Scopulimorpha f.; most of them formed stromatolite reefs of different sizes.
